GAMA
Mission and
Goals
The Association was established
to enhance the long-term viability of cellulose acetate and
its derivative products on a worldwide basis. GAMAs mission
is to advance, develop and promote the products, and to jointly
address the challenges the industry faces.
Its main activities include
the promotion of cellulose acetate, enhance the competitive
quality of the products, engage in joint research and development
projects, cooperate and address environmental issues in the
most cost-effective manner and help in public relations efforts.
Challenges
and developments
- Globalization of the business: The
manufacturing base for textile and garment manufacturing
shifts to emerging markets.
- Declining demand for cellulose acetate
yarn due to inter fiber substitution and the economical
crisis caused markets to disappear overnight (e.g.: the
former Soviet Union, Brazil, East Asia)
- Progressive open-up to free trade of
all cigarette markets
- Escalating costs due to new government,
health and environmental regulations
Code of conduct
All members of GAMA have
adopted and abide by a code of conduct. This is a firm commitment
to comply with the highest legal and ethical standards.
